The 2023 Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP) project for Senga Hill District focuses on the development of a modern Truck Parking Bay located in Chela Ward, with site coordinates available on the national ZDSP project portal. The project was allocated K2.6 million, aimed at supporting safer transport operations, reducing roadside congestion, and promoting economic activity in the district.

Phase One (Completed)

Under Phase One, significant groundwork and foundational works have been successfully implemented, including:

• Clearing of land and site preparation

• Dumping, grading, and gravelling of the parking surface

• Installation of solar-powered security lights to enhance safety and visibility

• Water reticulation systems installed to support both operational and sanitary needs

• Construction of an ablution block, currently underway, to improve user convenience

These works have laid the foundation for functionality, and once the sanitation facilities are completed, the parking bay will be usable in its current form.

Phase Two (Upcoming)

Phase Two of the project will focus on long-term durability and improved infrastructure, including:

• Tarring the parking surface to eliminate dust and mud, and extend the lifespan of the facility

• Fencing the entire facility to ensure security and controlled access

Upon completion, the Truck Parking Bay will serve as a vital logistics support point for truck drivers, transporters, and traders, contributing to enhanced transport efficiency and local economic development.
