The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has commenced training for District Electoral Officers (DEOs), Conflict Management Committee members, District Voter Education Trainers (DVETs), and District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) Coordinators on the Early Warning System, a key initiative aimed at promoting peaceful, credible, and well-coordinated electoral processes ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Senga Hill District is among the districts participating in the Kasama Cohort, alongside Mbala, Mungwi, Luwingu, Mpulungu, with Kasama serving as the host district.
Officially opening the training, Northern Province Local Government Officer and Provincial Electoral Officer, Mr Alfred Nyambose, welcomed all participants and emphasized that the Early Warning System is a proactive initiative aimed at strengthening conflict prevention, promoting timely response to emerging electoral issues, and safeguarding peace before, during, and after the elections. He urged participants to actively engage in the training and apply the knowledge gained to enhance electoral preparedness in their respective districts.
The training is equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills to identify, monitor, report, and respond to potential electoral risks at an early stage, thereby strengthening conflict prevention mechanisms and fostering peaceful elections.
